In the early 1920s, Lake Arrowhead became a popular resort for Hollywood’s rich and famous. At that time, there were no roads leading to the North Shore Tavern (now known as the Main Lodge) on the north shore of the lake. The Tavern provided a space for relaxation and outdoor activities for those who ventured on a boat trip across the lake from Lake Arrowhead Village. Over the years, the property transitioned to a conference center, hosting various events, including couples communication workshops aimed at helping couples in recovery. In 1982, the leadership of the property was handed over to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Today, the UCLA Lake Arrowhead Conference Center stands as a vibrant venue for conferences, retreats, and the popular UCLA Bruin Woods Family Resort, which also supports couples recovery initiatives.
